Aggies Fall At Utah 4-2

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Utah State scored once in the third and once in the sixth inning, but fell to Utah 4-2 in softball action here Tuesday afternoon. The Aggies fell to 4-22 on the year, while the Utes improved to 7-19.
USU recorded four hits as Haven Vance, Michell Vlahos, Sara Fleming and Casey Smith all registered hits in the game. Pitcher Leslie Higley scattered six hits through six innings, but saw the Utes score one run in four different innings.
Smith started the scoring for USU with a single up the middle to begin the third inning. With two outs, Vlahos singled to left field to plate Smith. USU then added a run in the sixth inning as Vance led off the inning with a single. With Vance on third and Jessica Garnett on second after an error, Fleming singled to leeft field to score Vance. However, Garnett was thrown out at home trying to score.
The Utes scored their runs in the first, second, fourth and sixth innings to snap a four-game losing streak. USU, which has dropped three straight games since upsetting 19th-ranked Oregon last Saturday, will host its home opener with a double-header against Cal State Fullerton on Saturday at 1 p.m.
