USU Softball Heading Back To California For Long Beach State Invitational

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State softball (8-8, 0-0 WAC) heads back to California to play in the Long Beach State Invitational that beings on Friday, March 9 and will conclude on Sunday, March 11. USU will play five games in the invitational, highlighted with match-ups against two top 25 ranked teams, No. 24 North Carolina and No. 17 UCLA. The Aggies will open play on Friday, March 9 against Big East Conference foe Pittsburgh, which will be the first meeting between these two teams. Pittsburgh enters the Long Beach State Invitational with a 8-4 record. First pitch is set for 12:30 p.m. (MT). Following its match-up against Pittsburgh, Utah State will square-off against No. 24 North Carolina. This will be the second nationally ranked foe USU has faced this season, as it fell to then-No. 7 Georgia in the Red & Black Showcase in February. The match-up with the Tar Heels will also be the second team the Aggies have played this season who hail from the Old North State, Utah State defeated North Carolina State, 6-5, in the season opener. USU will extend the trip and extra day to play a pair of games on Monday, March 12 at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, playing the opener against Ivy League foe, Harvard.
