Utah State Softball Hits The Road For Three-Game Series With Fresno State Beginning Friday

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State softball will be hitting the road to take on Fresno State (16-12) in a three-game series beginning on Friday, March 28 at 7 p.m. (MT). The Aggies had their season-high eight game winning streak snapped after a 4-1 loss to Southern Utah in Provo on Tuesday, which was their longest winning streak since winning 11-straight in 1993.
Utah State holds an overall record of 13-14 and is 3-0 in Mountain West action, after sweeping Colorado State at home last week. It was the Aggies' first conference sweep since taking three-straight Western Athletic Conference games from Nevada on the road in 2011. It was also the first home conference sweep since 2007. This is also the Aggies' first 3-0 conference start since 2004 when USU started Big West Conference play 3-0.
Fresno State holds an overall series lead of 31-10 against Utah State. The two schools were members of the WAC together for seven years. This will be the first meeting between the schools as members of the Mountain West. The Bulldogs have won 18-straight games against USU. The last time that the Aggies captured a win against the Bulldogs was in 2001 when Utah State defeated Fresno State, 4-1, in Fullerton, Calif. The Bulldogs are 16-12 this season and began MW play with a 1-2 record with a pair of losses to Boise State on the road. Fresno State is a solid 8-2 record at home this season.
Brenna Moss leads the team in hitting with a .368 record, leading the team with 35 hits. Stesha Brazil is the team leader in home runs with six. In the circle, Jill Compton leads the team with a 10-5 record and a 2.29 ERA. She has 74 strikeouts in 101.0 innings pitched. Fresno State is third in the MW in pitching with a 3.02 ERA and third in fielding with a .960 fielding percentage.
Freshman Victoria Saucedo is in the midst of a team-high 12-game on base streak. Junior Koons has reached safely in six-straight games. Saucedo is currently hitting .345 with 30 hits and 15 RBI. She has a team-leading eight multiple-hit games.
