Aggie Softball Takes On BYU And Utah Valley Wednesday
USU is back in action in Provo on Wednesday with games against BYU and UVU.

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State softball returns to action on Wednesday, April 2 with a pair of games at Gail Miller Field in Provo, Utah. The Aggies begin the day against BYU at 4 p.m. USU will conclude the day against Utah Valley at approximately 6:30 p.m. in Provo, which is a make-up game for the game in Logan scheduled for April 1 that was postponed due to inclement weather.

The Aggies will be taking on the Cougars for the first time this season. BYU holds an overall 36-24 record against Utah State. The teams last met in 2013 when the Cougars stopped the Aggies, 5-0, in Provo. The last time that USU captured a win against BYU was in 2006 when the Aggies split a doubleheader in Provo with Utah State winning the second game, 11-7.

This will be the third meeting this season between the Wolverines and the Aggies. Utah State captured the first two meetings in Orem on March 18 with a doubleheader sweep. USU captured the first game, 4-1, and finished the sweep with an 8-7 victory. Sophomore pitcher Noelle Johnson earned the wins in both of the victories. The Wolverines are 10-19 overall this season, coming off a three-game sweep of Cal State Bakersfield last week.

The Aggies are currently 13-17 overall and 3-3 in Mountain West action. USU has lost four-straight games after winning eight in a row. Offensively, Utah State continues to be led by freshman third baseman Victoria Saucedo who leads the team with a .344 batting average. She also tops the team in hits with 33 and runs scored with 18.

In the circle, sophomore Noelle Johnson is first in the Mountain West in strikeouts with 149 and first in batters struck out looking with 35. Her 149 strikeouts this season are fourth on the Utah State single-season strikeout list. She is just 69 away from topping the single-season list which is currently held by M.L. Ramm-Flippen who had 217 in 1980.



USU will then return to Mountain West action on Friday, April 4 against San José State at 3 p.m. On Saturday, April 5, the Aggies will honor the 30th anniversary of the 1984 NCAA Women's College World Series team prior to the game that begins at 1 p.m. The weekend series finale will be on Sunday, April 6 at 1 p.m.
