Utah State Softball Takes on New Mexico State In A Televised Game Friday

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Utah State softball will look to move within striking distance of the Western Athletic Conference sixth seed, Louisiana Tech, this weekend in a three-game series against New Mexico State. USU is currently sitting in seventh place in the conference standings with a 3-12 record in conference play and are 16-31 overall on the year. Reigning WAC softball champions, NMSU is sitting one spot behind the Aggies in the standings, at No. 8. The Crimson Aggies are 1-14 in WAC games this season and are 20-27 overall.
First pitch on Friday is set for 6 p.m. (MT) in Las Cruces. Last season, NMSU took all three games from USU in Logan.
Last time out, Utah State defeated border-foe Idaho State in a pitching and defensive struggle as senior pitcher Dani Chaplin combined with junior pitcher Shelbi Tyteca to one-hit the Bengals en route to a, 2-0 victory on Wednesday, April 25. Freshman outfielder Hailey Froton knocked her sixth home run of the season, tying her with senior Kelley Kaneshiro for the most this season. Friday's game between the two Aggie squads will be televised through AggieVision and will be available to fans on Altitude Sports or ESPN3.com.
