LOGAN, Utah -
Utah State (32-15, 14-9 MW) will play its final game of the 2017 regular season this week, as it travels to play a non-conference game at in-state rival No. 20 BYU (40-10, 12-0 WCC). The Aggies and Cougars will play on Tuesday, May 9, at 6 p.m.
Tuesday’s game will be streamed live on TheW.tv, the online network of the West Coast Conference. Live stats and play-by-play information will be available, while updates will also be provided through the team’s social media outlets. Links to each option will be available online prior to the game.
BYU enters the week with a 40-10 record and on a 19-game winning streak. The Cougars last loss came on March 30, in a 1-0 decision against then-No. 1 Oregon. BYU is 12-0 in West Coast Conference action. The Cougars are currently ranked 20th in both national polls, their highest ranking this season.
BYU returns eight starters and 14 total letterwinners from last year’s roster, a team that went 36-21 on the year, finishing first in the WCC with a 12-3 league record. Junior third baseman Caitlyn Alldredge is leading the BYU offense, as she is batting .389 (49-of-126) on the season. Senior McKenna Bull leads the Cougar pitching staff with a 1.30 ERA and a 27-4 individual record. In all, BYU has allowed 255 hits and 120 runs on the year, while striking out 206 batters and walking 131. As a team, BYU is batting .323 (409-of-1265), scoring 310 runs with 291 RBIs. Gordon Eakin is in his 15th season as the head coach at BYU, where he has an overall record of 598-267.
BYU is Utah State’s third-most faced opponent in program history. The Cougars lead the all-time series, 41-32. Utah State’s last win over BYU came on April 4, 2006, in an 11-7 eight-inning victory in Provo. In the first game of this season’s home-and-home series, BYU defeated the Aggies, 8-6, in Logan. For Utah State, freshman outfielder Riley Plogger and senior second baseman Victoria Saucedo led the offense, as both are batting .375 on the season. Senior first baseman Paxton Provost is tops defensively, tallying 294 putouts on the year. Freshman Kellie White leads the Aggie pitching staff with a 17-6 record and a 2.56 ERA. In all, the USU pitchers have allowed 294 hits and 169 total runs while striking out 184 batters and walking 142. As a team, the Aggies are batting .315 with 411 hits and 254 runs scored.
