LOGAN, Utah - Utah State head softball coach Steve Johnson announced the addition of a pitcher to its 2015 roster, signing Alleyah Armendariz, a transfer from Oregon State.

Armendariz joins the Aggies after her freshman season at Oregon State. She made four starts in her time with Beavers, finishing the year with 12 strikeouts. She earned a win in her first career start, throwing a complete game with five strikeouts against North Carolina State. Armendariz is a native of Kent, Wash., where she attended Auburn Mountainview High School.

"We're really excited about adding Alleyah to our team. She was a big-time recruit coming out of high school and someone I was well-aware of before coming to Utah State," Johnson said. "As a hard-throwing drop ball pitcher, she is the perfect complement to Noelle (Johnson) right now. Alleyah will give us more experience and depth at the pitcher position and along with newcomers Paige (Mills) and Jordyn (McCracken), we feel like we could have one of the best pitching staff's in the conference."

Utah State softball concluded the 2014 season with an 18-37 record, including a 6-18 record in its inaugural season in the Mountain West.
