Utah State Women's Tennis Loses at BYU, 6-1

PROVO, Utah - Utah State women's tennis lost its first match of the 2013 season Saturday as it fell at BYU, 6-1. With the loss, USU is now 1-1 on the season.
Sophomore McKenzie Davis was the only Aggie to win a match against the Cougars as she posted a three-set win at No. 1 singles against Morgan Anderson (7-5, 3-6, 6-1).
Senior Jaci West lost in straight sets at No. 2 singles to Desiree Tran (6-4, 6-2). Senior Julie Tukuafu lost in straight sets to Meghan Sheehan-Dizon (6-1, 6-2) at No. 3 singles. Senior Kristina Voytsekhovich fell to Mackenna Maddox in straight sets at No. 4 singles (6-2, 6-2). At No. 5 singles, freshman Kallie Sperry lost to Nicolette Tran in straight sets (6-4, 6-2). And at No. 6 singles, sophomore Hillary Hays fell to BYU's Aubrey Paul in straight sets (6-4, 6-4).
In doubles play, Davis and West fell to Sheehan-Dizon and Nicolette Tran at the first position, 8-7 (4). Sperry and Voytsekhovich were defeated by Anderson and Maddox at the second position, 8-2. And Hays and Tukuafu lost to Paul and Desiree Tran at the third position, 8-4.
Utah State's women will return to action on Friday, February 8 when it hosts Portland State at 12 p.m., at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club in Logan.
