Utah State Women's Tennis Tallies Up Third-Straight Win With Victory Over Montana State, Thursday

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis defeated Montana State, 5-2, bringing the Aggies to a 5-3 season record and winning their third-straight match.
USU lost the doubles point with losses at the two and three positions. At the one spot, junior Hailey Swenson and freshman Jaclyn West defeated MSU's Laura Villegas and Charlotta Hjalmarrson, 8-3. Swenson and West improved their doubles record to 6-1, a current Aggie high. Junior Taylor Perry and senior Britney Watts dropped the three position, 8-6, to the Bobcats' Andrea De La Torre and Lucy Fairbotham.
Utah State battled back in singles action to overcome MSU with victories at the one, two, four, five and six spots. At the one position, Swenson defeated the Bobcats' Villegas, 6-2, 6-4. Swenson holds an impressive Aggie-leading record of 6-1 in singles competition and a combined 12-2 record this season. West defeated MSU's Ali Griffin, 6-4, 6-3, at the two position, while sophomore Monica Abella defeated the Bobcats' Jennifer Coll, 6-2, 6-3, at the four spot. Perry and Watts won at the five and six positions, respectively.
Utah State looks to continue its winning streak with a match against College of Idaho Saturday, March 6 at 2 p.m. at the Logan Sports Academy and Racquet Club. All home matches are free and open to the public.
