Utah State women's tennis posted a 1-1 record Saturday as it defeated UC Riverside (5-1) and lost to UNLV (4-0) in a pair of matches played here on the UNLV campus. Due to its match against UNLV being postponed on Friday, no doubles competition was played on Saturday.

Final Stats

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Utah State women's tennis posted a 1-1 record Saturday as it defeated UC Riverside (5-1) and lost to UNLV (4-0) in a pair of matches played here on the UNLV campus. Due to its match against UNLV being postponed on Friday, no doubles competition was played on Saturday.

Utah State began the day by facing UNLV, losing all four completed matches in singles play. At the No. 2 spot, senior Jaci West  was defeated by Lucia Batta, (6-0, 6-1). At the No. 3 spot, senior Kristina Voytsekhovich was taken down by Nives Pavlovic (6-1, 6-0). At the No. 5 spot, freshman Kallie Sperry was defeated by Janine Erasmus (6-2, 6-1). And at the No. 6 spot, freshman Amber Stuhlmann fell to Iren Kotseva (6-1, 6-1) in her singles debut. Two singles matches were left unfinished as sophomore McKenzie Davis was tied with Aleksandra Josifoska at one set apiece (6-4, 0-6) at the No. 1 spot, while senior Julie Tukuafuwas down one set to Anett Ferenczi-Bako (6-4, 3-4) at the No. 4 spot.

Following its match against UNLV, Utah State rebounded by winning five of the six singles matches against UC Riverside. At the No. 1 spot, sophomore McKenzie Davis defeated Jamie Raney in straight sets (6-2, 6-1). At the No. 2 spot, senior Jaci West defeated Taylor Raney in straight sets (6-1, 7-6). At the No. 3 spot, senior Kristina Voytsekhovich defeated Natalie McKay in straight sets (6-1, 6-2). At the No. 4 spot, Courtney Pattugalan defeated senior Julie Tukuafu in a super tie-breaker (6-2, 6-7, 1-0 (10-7)). At the No. 5 spot, freshman Kallie Sperry defeated Kate Bergeson in straight sets (6-3, 6-3). And at the No. 6 spot, sophomore Hillary Haysdefeated Thanh Doan in straight sets (6-2, 6-1).


 

 

Utah State will return to action on Tuesday, Mar. 19 when it plays at Weber State at 11:30 a.m. USU defeated WSU earlier this year in Logan, 5-2.
