Utah State Women's Tennis Drops First Match of the Weekend to Boise State, 6-1

BOISE, Idaho - Utah State's women's tennis team (7-5, 0-2 MW) dropped its first match of the weekend when Mountain West foe Boise State defeated the Aggies, 6-1, on Friday. Utah State is still looking for its first MW victory.
The match opened up with doubles play where the freshmen tandem of Lexi Turley and Nini Guensler lost to Boise State's top pair, Sandy Vo and Megan LaLone, 8-3, at the first position. Then, shortly after, BSU's Morgan Basil and Sammie Watson defeated the team of sophomores Kallie Sperry and Ashley Stuhlmann by the same 8-3 score. Junior McKenzie Davis and Amber Stuhlmann left their match unfinished, as the doubles point was clinched before it ended.
The Broncos started the singles portion of the match by extending their lead to 2-0 as Milena Toseva topped freshman Katie Sweet, 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 6 spot. Then, Boise State pushed the lead to 3-0 as LaLone defeated Ashley Stuhlmann, 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot. Boise State clinched the dual match win when Basil beat Turley, 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot.
The Aggies continued playing, and Davis was topped by Vo in what is only Davis' second singles loss this spring, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 1 spot. Guensler lost her match in three close sets to Teal Vosburgh, 3-6, 6-2, 10-7, at the No. 2 spot, while Sperry was the lone Aggie to secure a victory as she defeated Anissa Bryant-Swift in three sets, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 10-8, at the No. 3 spot.
Up next for the Aggies is another match in Boise, this time against Lewis-Clark State, tomorrow at 11 a.m. (MT).
