Utah State Women's Tennis Snaps Four-Match Losing Streak With Dominating Win Over Lewis-Clark State, 7-0, Saturday

TUCSON, Ariz. - Utah State's women's tennis team (8-5, 0-1 MW) snapped a four-match losing streak with a 7-0 win over Lewis-Clark State in Boise, Idaho, on Saturday as the Aggies won every single set played during the match.
"It was nice to get back into the win column," said USU head coach Sean McInerney. "I thought our energy was very good today, and we did a great job staying positive. We are looking forward to playing a very good UTEP team tomorrow morning."
The Aggies started the match with a trio of 8-1 wins in doubles play to take the doubles point. The Aggies' freshmen duo of Lexi Turley and Nini Guensler defeated Rye Hewett and Bryn Oliveira at the first position, while junior McKenzie Davis and sophomore Amber Stuhlmann defeated Deanri Human and Lauran Lang at the second position. Sophomores Kallie Sperry and Ashley Stuhlmann defeated Nette Dayhuff and Florencia Martina at the third position.
Utah State then swept the singles portion of the match without dropping a single set. At the No. 1 spot, Davis defeated Hewett, 6-1, 6-1, while Guensler topped Martina, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 2 spot. Then, Sperry blanked Human, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 3 spot and Turley beat Oliveira in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 4 spot. In the No. 5 spot, Amber Stuhlmann only lost one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1, win, while her twin sister, Ashley Stuhlmann, quickly won her match, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 6 spot.
The Aggies are back on the courts tomorrow as they face UTEP in Boise at 11 a.m. (MT).
