Utah State Women's Tennis Falls to Louisiana Tech, 6-1, Friday

RUSTON, La. -
Utah State women's tennis fell to Louisiana Tech, 6-1, on Friday, in Ruston, La. Sophomore McKenzie Davis secured the only win for the Aggies when she defeated Alexandra Starkova in straight sets at the No. 1 singles position (6-3, 6-3).
In other singles action, senior Jaci West was defeated by Joanna Nalborska in the No. 2 position (6-3, 6-3). Senior Kristina Voytsekhovich retired from her match in the first set, forfeiting the point to LA Tech. In the No. 4 singles position, senior Julie Tukuafu was defeated by Melanie Urvoy in straight sets (6-1, 6-0) and in the No. 5 spot freshman Kallie Sperry lost to Taly Merker in straight sets (6-3, 6-2). In the No. 6 spot sophomore Hillary Hays fell in the third set to Manoela Chiacchio (2-6, 6-2, 6-1).
LA Tech swept the Aggies in doubles action. West and Davis were defeated by Vivian ten Dolle and Chiacchio in the first double position (6-5 (7-2)). In the second doubles position Sperry and Hays were taken down by Nalborska and Starkova, 8-0, and in the third position freshmen sisters Ashley and Amber Stuhlmann were defeated by Urvoy and Merker, 8-2.
The Aggies will remain in Louisiana where they will take on UTSA on Saturday Mar. 31, at 1 p.m (MT).
