
Utah State Women's Tennis Competes In Fall Classic At BYU

PROVO, Utah - Utah State sophomore Brianna Harris won her first round match in singles action on Thursday as the Aggies competed in the Utah Fall Classic hosted by Brigham Young to open the fall season. Harris beat Weber State's Greyce Farias, 6-2, 6-0 in the round of 32 and then fell in the round of 16 to BYU's Christina Doerr, 6-3, 6-4. Freshman Hailey Swenson battled Utah's Dee Nelson in the round of 32 and fell, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2. Junior Bridgette Strickland fell to Utah's Errin Monson, 7-5, 6-2, while fellow sophomore Birtney Watts lost, 6-0, 6-1, to BYU's Elle Carney. In doubles action Watts and Swenson lost, 8-3, in the round of 32 to Utah's Andrea Maughan and Jane Krynchkova. Harris and Strickland recieved a bye in the round of 32, but fell in the round of 16 to Utah's Liz Ferris and Leigh Walsh, 8-1. The Aggies will continue action in consolations tomorrow.
