Utah State Women's Tennis Play Well In Day One of Utah State Fall Invitational

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis plays well in the first day of the Utah State Fall Invitational Friday. Sophomore Hailey Swenson advances to the finals in singles Flight A. Swenson will take on teammate Bridgette Strickland in the Flight A finals. Click here for Live Women's Results In the flight A quarterfinals, Swenson defeated Weber State's Brittiny Moore, 6-0, 6-3 and advanced to the semifinals round where she won, 7-5, 6-0, against WSU's Keya Adamson. Also in the flight A quarterfinals, senior Bridgette Strickland won, 3-6, 7-6, 6-4, against WSU's Greyce Farias. Strickland advanced to the semifinals round where she defeated Caroline Drugge, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1. In flight B, freshman Monica Calleja won in the quarterfinals, 6-0, 6-0, shutting out Weber State's Markay Mullen. Marie Livingston also won in the quarterfinal round, 6-1, 6-4, over Lori Gallup. In doubles action, Strickland and Swenson partnered to defeat Weber State's Farias and Mullen, 8-3, while fellow Aggies Calleja and sophomore Taylor Perry defeated Gallup and Alyssia Pyne, 8-2. The Aggies will continue action in day two of the Utah State Fall Invitational Saturday at the Logan Sports Academy and Racquet Club. All matches are free to the public and will be played indoors.
