Feb. 5, 2014
LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis (3-0, 0-0 MW) travels to Pocatello, Idaho, to face the Idaho State Bengals (1-1, 0-0 Big Sky) on Thursday at 1 p.m., where the Aggies will put their school-record 3-0 mark on the line.
"We are excited to be playing Idaho State," said head coach Sean McInerney. "We had a great first weekend and our goal is to try and keep the momentum going and keep working on staying patient and moving well so we can dictate points. Idaho State is an athletic and scrappy team that has had a good start to the season and it is going to be a big challenge to go into their home courts and pull out a win."
The Aggies started out the season with three wins in three days when they traveled to Chicago to face Chicago State, South Dakota and Valparaiso. The 3-0 start to the season is a school record.
Leading the Aggies into Pocatello is junior McKenzie Davis, who is 6-0 on the year with three singles wins and three doubles wins with her partner, sophomore Kallie Sperry. The duo of Davis and Sperry are ranked sixth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Mountain Region. Sperry is also 3-0 in singles.
