Feb. 7, 2012
LOGAN, Utah – Utah State’s McKenzie Davis has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5, as selected by the conference office and announced Tuesday.
Davis, a freshman from Salt Lake City, went undefeated in both singles and doubles play last weekend, helping the Aggies to a 2-1 record, with wins against Weber State (5-2) and Montana State (5-1). Davis won all three of her singles matches in straight sets, as she went 2-0 at the No. 3 singles position and 1-0 at the No. 2 spot. In doubles play, Davis and teammate junior Jaci West earned three doubles wins at the No. 1 position.
Fresno State’s Remi Boutillier won the men’s title.
Davis is the first Aggie to receive the WAC honor since senior Brianna Rowland (Harris) received it in March, 2011.
Davis and the Aggies return to the court Thursday, Feb. 9, when they head to Pocatello to take on Idaho State.
