Utah State Women's Tennis Takes on Denver on Friday

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis (4-3) looks to take on Denver (2-2) in Colorado on Friday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. 

"Denver is one of the best teams in our region," head coach Sean McInerney said. "We are excited for the opportunity to compete against them. We have done some really good things so far this spring, and we are hoping to build on those Friday night."

Utah State is led in singles by freshman Sasha Pisareva who is 6-1 at the No. 1 position, including a 4-0 sweep last week on the Aggies' trip to East Lansing, Mich. Senior Sabrina Demerath is 5-2 and sophomore Hannah Jones is 3-3. In doubles, sophomore Sophia Haleas and redshirt freshman Alexandra Taylor are 3-2, Jones and sophomore Lucy Octave are 2-0, and Demerath and Pisareva are 2-1.

Denver leads Utah State 6-0 in series history. In singles, two Pioneers are ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in No. 47 senior Julia O'Loughlin and No. 123 junior Bianca Mok. In singles, O'Loughlin is 3-1 at the No. 1 spot and Mok is 3-0 at the No. 2 spot. Two doubles teams are also ranked by the ITA in No. 48 O'Loughlin and freshman Camille Verden-Anderson and No. 57 O'Loughlin and Mok. O'Loughlin and Mok are 2-1 at the No. 1 spot, and freshmen Hada Chang and Anna Riedmiller are also 2-1.
