HONOLULU - In the final of three matches of the weekend, the Utah State women's tennis team fell 5-2 to Western Athletic Conference foe San Jose State at the University of Hawai'i Tennis Complex on Saturday. With the loss, the Aggies fell to 8-9 overall, and 1-2 in WAC play. The Spartans improved to a 12-3 record, 3-0 in conference action. After not playing doubles matches in Friday's match against Hawai'i, the Aggies saw success there on Saturday. Junior Jaci West and freshman McKenzie Davis started things off defeating San Jose State's Sebastiani Leon Chao and Erica Medlin, (8-3). In the No. 2 position, junior Kristina Voytsekhovich and senior Romina Nedakovic claimed the doubles point for the team, taking down Chau Truong and Alexis Marquel, (8-2). Junior Julie Tukuafu and senior Brianna Rowland (Harris) put up a fight, but fell to Isadora Busch and Jessica Willet, (8-7). In singles action, Davis got back on track at the No. 1 position, defeating Truong in straight sets, (6-3, 6-4). The rest of the team did not see the same results, however. West fell to Leon Chao, (6-1, 6-2), while Voytsekhovich was defeated by Medlin, (6-0, 6-2). Nedokovic pushed her match to three sets, but fell in the end to Willett, (6-3, 3-6, 6-4). Senior Monica Abella lost to Busch, (6-3, 6-1), and Tukuafu wrapped up the competition falling to Marquez, (6-1, 6-4).
