Utah State Women's Tennis' McKenzie Davis Named America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete Of The Week

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis player McKenzie Davis has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, April 6 it was announced Monday, in an award that is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
This is Davis' third career USU Student Athlete of the Week Award, to go along with two Mountain West Player of the Week awards and two Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards.
The Salt Lake City native posted a combined 4-0 record in singles and doubles play last week and tied the school spring season record with her 16th singles win as she led Utah State to a pair of home wins against Montana (4-3) and Northern Arizona (4-1). Against the Grizzlies, Davis won in straight sets at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-2) and teamed with sophomore Kallie Sperry for an 8-2 win at the first doubles position. Against the Lumberjacks, Davis posted a straight sets win at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-0) and teamed with Sperry for an 8-2 doubles win at the first position. With its two wins this week, USU improved to 12-8 on the season and tied the single-season school record for wins.
The Aggies continue their season this week with a pair of MW road matches against Colorado State on April 11 at 10 a.m. and at Wyoming on April 13 at 2 p.m.

GYMNASTICS - Freshman Bailey McIntire (Kearney, Mo.) had the highest individual event finish for Utah State at last weekend's NCAA Regional Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., as the Aggies finished sixth with a team score of 191.875. Overall, McIntire tied for fourth-place on the floor with a 9.875, tied for sixth on vault with a 9.800, and placed 19th on bars with a 9.150 (19th).
SOFTBALL - Senior second baseman Allison Lenzora (Manteca, Calif.) hit .417 last week in helping Utah State to a 2-3 record with a road loss at BYU (5-4) and a neutral win against Utah Valley (10-9), followed by a 1-2 record against San Jose State in Mountain West action as USU lost the first two games to the Spartans (9-0, 12-4), before winning the series finale (16-8). Lenzora began her week by going 1-for-3 at the plate against BYU with a run scored, and scored another run against UVU. In the second game against SJSU, Lenzora went 1-for-2 at the plate with one RBI and one run scored. She had her best game of the week in the series final against the Spartans going 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and four RBI. For the week, Lenzora hit .417 (5-12) with five runs scored and five RBI with a double and a triple. She also scored a run in four of the five games played during the week.
MEN'S TENNIS - Junior Marcus Fritz (Stockholm, Sweden) posted a 1-1 singles record last week as Utah State dropped a pair of matches at No. 22 Boise State (6-1) and against Middle Tennessee (4-0) in a match played in Boise, Idaho. Against the Broncos, Fritz posted a straight sets win at No. 2 singles (7-6, 6-2) and teamed with freshman Dennis Baumgartner for an 8-2 loss at the first doubles position. Against the Blue Raiders, Fritz lost in straight sets at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-2).
MEN'S TRACK - Senior Xavier Williford, Jr. (Stockton, Calif.) placed second in the high jump with a personal-best leap of 2.06m (6-09.00) last weekend at the Stanford Invitational.
WOMEN'S TRACK - Senior Kaylee Hartshorn (Spokane, Wash.) finished second in the javelin at the Stanford Invitational last weekend with a heave of 37.77m (137-00).
