Women's Tennis Wraps Up Home Season With 7-0 Win Over Idaho State

LOGAN, Utah - After a rough weekend on the road, the Utah State women's tennis team was back in Logan Tuesday, where they completed the home portion of their schedule with a 7-0 win over Idaho State.
With the sweep, the Aggies improved to an even 9-9 while the Bengals fell to 4-11.
The match got started with doubles action, where the Aggies had the momentum from the beginning. Freshman McKenzie Davis and junior Jaci West had a clean sweep of Katharina Marsela and Laura Porras, (8-0). Senior Romina Nedakovic and junior Kristina Voytsekhovich followed with a win over Rilee Moorhead and Marian Tangarife, (8-2). Junior Julie Tukuafu and senior Brianna Rowland (Harris) concluded doubles by defeating Zamira Vasquez and Rachel Ryan, (8-1).
Utah State maintained its dominating presence through singles action, with just a couple tight matches. Davis kept hold of the No. 1 position, defeating Marsela in straight sets, (6-1, 6-0). West was the only one to push her match to three sets, and was the last to finish, but winning in dramatic fashion with super tie-breaker victory, (6-3, 6-7, 11-9). Voytsekhovich took down Tangarife, (6-3, 6-1), while Nedakovic defeated Moorhead, (6-4, 6-1). Senior Monica Abella earned a win over Vasquez, and Tukaufu finished the sweep with a win over Ryan, (6-0, 6- 2).
The Aggies will wrap up the regular season on the road when they head to Reno, Nev. to take on the Wolfpack of Nevada. The match will be played Saturday, April 21 at 11 a.m., (MT).
