April 26, 2017

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis players Nini Guensler and Sabrina Demerath both earned all-Mountain West honors as selected by the conference's head coaches, it was announced Wednesday by the conference office. Guensler earned all-Mountain West honors in singles, while Guensler and Demerath were named an all-Mountain West doubles tandem.

Overall, it is Guensler's second and third all-conference honor of her career, while it is the first for Demerath. Guensler's three all-conference awards are the second-most in school history, behind McKenzie Davis' five.

Guensler, a senior from Tbilisi, Georgia, posted a 21-14 overall record this year, highlighted by an 11-8 record in dual matches playing the entire year at the No. 1 spot in the lineup. During the season, Guensler topped Utah's Margo Pletcher, the No. 10-ranked singles player in the Mountain Region, as well as New Mexico's Ludivine Burguiere and Colorado State's Emily Kolbow in conference play.

The duo of Guensler and Demerath, a junior from Kenmore, Wash., posted a 16-5 overall record this year, including a 12-1 mark in dual matches and a perfect 2-0 ledger against Mountain West foes. The duo posted a seven-match winning streak to start the dual match season, and is currently on a five-match winning streak. In conference play, the duo defeated Boise State's Nancy Menjivar and Wiktoria Nosek and Colorado State's Celine Voss and Riley Reeves. Both victories clinched the doubles point for the Aggies. In non-conference action, the tandem defeated Utah's Jenna Cheng and Taylor Calton, the No. 6-ranked duo in the region.

The Aggies are back in action at the Mountain West Championship in Las Vegas, Nev., this weekend when they face San Diego State in the first round on Thursday, April 27, at 11 a.m. (MT).
