LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women’s tennis head coach Sean McInerney announced the team’s fall schedule on Wednesday, as the Aggies will compete five tournaments.
“We are really excited to get started this season,” McInerney said. “We have a lot of players with experience back, and we are adding three players that will really help our program. We will get better each day and get ready for our championship season in the spring.”
Two Aggies will open the fall season at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Gold Event: Milwaukee Tennis Classic on clay courts in Milwaukee, Wis., Wednesday, Sept. 20 through Sunday, Sept. 24. Seven players will be competing at the Idaho State Invite in Pocatello, Idaho, Sept. 22-24.
After a two-week break, all nine Aggies will compete in the ITA Regionals in Salt Lake City, Utah, Wednesday, Oct. 11 through Sunday, Oct. 15. After another almost two-week break, four women netters will travel to Boise, Idaho, to compete in the Boise State Invite, Friday, Oct. 27 through Sunday, Oct. 29. Eight USU players will wrap up the fall tournaments in Tucson, Ariz., participating in the Arizona Invite from Friday, Nov. 3 through Sunday, Nov. 5.
Utah State women’s tennis returns six letterwinners from last year’s 13-11 season, including a 2-3 record in the Mountain West, with seniors Sabrina Demerath and Maggie O’Meara, junior Jenna Kane, and sophomores Sophia Haleas, Hannah Jones and Lucy Octave. Sophomore Rhoda Tanui and freshmen Alex Taylor and Sasha Pisareva will also be joining the team this season.
