USU Mens Tennis Rained Out at Wilson Invitational

Oct. 21, 2004

LAS VEGAS - Unusually heavy and constant desert rains led to the postponement of the first day of play for the Utah State University men's tennis team at the 2004 Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region Championships being held on the UNLV campus.

Weather permitting, there will be two rounds of singles and two rounds of doubles play on Thursday.

Jill Smith was the lone Aggie to compete for the women's team at the Wilson Invitational being hosted by the University of Tulsa. She was defeated in the singles qualifying round by Lucy Scott of New Mexico. Smith lost in two sets, 6-1, 6-4.

Aggies Lindsey Bennion and Carolyn Stephens will begin play Thursday. Bennion will play in the main draw and will then team with Stephens for doubles play.

Play for both tournaments is expected to continue through Sunday.
