LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis head coach Sean McInerney continues adding to his first recruiting class at Utah State with the addition of four-star recruit Erin Freeman from Downey, Calif.
During her senior season at Downey High School, Freeman recorded 23 wins over other four-star recruits to earn a ranking of No. 123 in the country.
"Erin hits a very heavy ball and has unlimited potential as a college player," McInerney said. "She has already proven that she can beat a very high-caliber player, and I am very excited for this program to take her game to the next level. She will be a great teammate and will be an immediate contributor to our program."
Freeman cites her relationship with McInerney as a deciding factor in choosing Utah State.
"I really like Coach McInerney," Freeman said. "I believe he is the right coach for me and can push me to the next level. I think we hit it off, and I hope the relationship continues to grow."
Freeman's parents said they are excited for her opportunity and are confident in McInerney's ability to coach players to reach their highest potential. Freeman was also drawn to Utah State by the the opportunity to play in the Mountain West Conference.
"I chose Utah State because I felt like it was a good fit for me," Freeman said. "I really like that I have the opportunity to be the start of the turn of the program, and I think that working with Coach McInerney we will have a great season."
Freeman plans on majoring in excercise science.
