04/19/2013 USU Volleyball Adds Five To 2013 Signing ClassAggies Add Two Middle Blockers, One Outside Hitter, One Opposite Side Hitter And A Libero
Kamalu, is a 5-11 outside hitter who comes to Utah State from Davis (Utah) High School where she was a three-year starter. She was named to the Utah Volleyball Coaches Association All-Star Team after helping Davis to a 31-2 mark, winning the Region 1 title before losing to eventual state champion Pleasant Grove in the playoffs. This season, Kamalu averaged 3.0 kills and 3.0 digs per set, with a .267 hitting percentage. Kamalu added 0.4 service aces and 0.3 blocks per set. As a junior, Kamalu helped the Darts to the 2011 5A state title, earning first-team all-state accolades after earning honorable mention all-state honors as a sophomore. At Davis, Kamalu played with current Aggie Candace Richins. Kamalu also competed with USA Volleyball club team, qualifying for the Junior Olympic Championships for the last three years. "We are excited about Kaylie becoming an Aggie. She is a nice volleyball player and will have an immediate impact on our program," DuBose said. "She comes from a competitive background at Davis HS and coach Lori Salvo and her club training as well, with coach Mike Daniel." |
