Utah State Volleyball to Play in Three Spring Tournaments
March 20, 2017

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women’s volleyball will participate in three spring tournaments when the calendar turns to the month of April, traveling to Utah on April 1 and Utah Valley on April 8. The Aggies will host its final tournament of the spring on Kirby Court at the Wayne Estes Center on Saturday, April 15.

"These tournaments will be good to give us some reps and see how we are progressing through the spring," head coach Grayson DuBose said. "We are looking for all of our hitters to get more range and will be working on our ball control."

All three tournaments will include competition from regional foes, including Utah, BYU, Boise State, Westminster, Weber State, Dixie State and Salt Lake Community College. The tournament on April 15 is free and open to the public, with matches beginning that morning and running through mid-afternoon.

Utah State will be without departed seniors Kaylie Kamalu-Smith, Erica Moscoso, Maddie Day-Larsen and Hannah Gleason, opening spots along the back row, outside hitter and setter. Gleason set the school record in career sets played last year, appearing in 450, finished fourth in career digs with 1,410 and finished tied for eighth with 120 matches played. Kamalu-Smith finished her career 10th all-time in both career kills (947) and career attempts (2,733). Moscoso rounded out her career No. 10 in career assists, finishing with 1,835.

The Aggies return all-Mountain West outside hitter Lauren Anderson, who led USU with 377 kills last season, averaging 3.52 per set. Utah State also returns opposite Kayla DeCoursey, who finished third on the team with 255 kills, averaging 2.38 per set, and 75 blocks.

Utah State's top blockers, Carly Lenzen and Lauren O'Brien, also return, totaling 114 and 105 blocks, respectively, last season and finishing fourth and fifth on the team in total kills with 186 and 159.
