SAN JOSE, Calif. - Utah State volleyball will square off against San José State on Saturday, Sept. 28. First serve is slated for 8 p.m. (MT) from SJSU's Event Center.

The Aggies are 8-5 overall and 2-1 in Mountain West action after having a three-match win streak snapped in a 3-1 loss at Fresno State Thursday night. SJSU is 3-8 overall and 0-1 in MW play after losing in a five-setter to Boise State Thursday night.

Utah State and San José State were former Western Athletic Conference foes and moved to the Mountain West together this summer. While the Spartans lead the overall series, 19-13-1, USU and SJSU have taken turns winning the last four meetings. The Spartans have claimed victory in the last two match-ups at San José while the Aggies have nabbed the win in the last two meetings in Logan. In the most recent match, SJSU swept USU last season at San Jose.

Despite 3-0 Loss Saturday At San Jose State, USU Volleyball Captures First WAC Regular-Season Championship
Utah State volleyball captured its first-ever Western Athletic Conference regular-season title Saturday, despite a 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-21) loss to San Jose State at Spartan Gym.

USU is in pursuit of its 200th all-time conference match victory, as the Aggies are 199-295 (.403) record in 494 overall conference matches after Thursday's loss. Utah State has won 17 of its last 21 league matches after being 2-1 in MW this season following an 15-3 league ledger last season in the Aggies' final season in the WAC.

In Thursday's loss to Fresno State, the USU defense posted a season-high 18 total team blocks. The Aggies were led by junior outside hitter Rachel Orr (Thatcher, Ariz.) and senior outside hitter Tumua Etimani (Richardson, Texas), who both recorded their sixth double-doubles of the season. Etimani had 14 kills and 14 digs, while Orr added a team-high 19 kills and 11 digs in the four-set match.
