Utah State Volleyball Receiving Votes In Coaches Poll For Fourth-Straight Week

LOGAN, Utah - With a 12-2 record this season, Utah State's women's volleyball team continues to receive votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 that was released Monday as the Aggies are ranked 35th in the country with seven votes.
Utah State received 14 votes in last week's poll to rank 29th in the nation, 23 votes two weeks ago to rank 28th and nine votes three week's ago to rank 32nd.
Utah State went 0-1 last week as it lost at No. 5 Hawai'i in three sets (26-24, 25-17, 25-17).
Utah State is one of just two teams from the Western Athletic Conference to be included in this week's poll as Hawai'i is ranked sixth in the country. USU is also the only team from the state of Utah to receive at least two votes this week.
Prior to this year, the last time a Utah State volleyball team received votes in the Top 25 poll was at the beginning of the 2002 season when it was ranked 36th in the preseason. USU's 2000 team was ranked as high as 18th in the country and finished the year ranked 22nd, while the 2001 team finished the year ranked 21st as both teams advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
With its 12-2 record, Utah State is off to the fourth-best start to a season in school history. USU's 1978 AIAW National Championship team holds the school record for best start a season with 26 straight wins, while the 1977 team won its first 18 matches and the 1979 AIAW National Runner-up team won 20 of its first 21 matches.
Utah State plays a pair of Western Athletic Conference matches at home this weekend against Fresno State (6-7, 1-1) on Thursday, Sept. 30 and San Jose State (6-9, 1-1) on Saturday, Oct. 2 with both matches beginning at 7 p.m.
