LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's volleyball team continues Western Athletic Conference play Monday with a match at Louisiana Tech at 6 p.m. (MT).

Utah State is 19-8 on the season and tied for fourth-place with Nevada in the WAC with a 7-7 league mark after defeating the Wolf Pack (3-0) at home last weekend. USU is led by junior outside hitter Liz McArthur who is hitting .221 and averaging 4.11 kills, 1.85 digs, 0.46 blocks and 0.39 service aces per set. Senior middle blocker Katie Astle is hitting .325 and averaging 1.49 kills and 1.11 blocks per set, while senior setter Chelsea Fowles is hitting .332 and averaging 9.95 assists, 2.24 digs, 0.92 kills, 0.74 blocks and 0.32 service aces per set. As a team, Utah State is hitting .230 on the year as compared to a .176 hitting percentage for its opponents.

Louisiana Tech is 12-19 on the season and 1-13 in the WAC following a pair of road losses at Boise State (3-0) and Idaho (3-2) last weekend. The Lady Techsters are 6-5 at home this year and are led by senior outside hitter Kara Jones who is hitting .278 and averaging 2.63 kills and 0.79 blocks per set. As a team, Louisiana Tech is hitting .162 on the season and its opponents are hitting .175. The Lady Techsters return six starters and 10 letterwinners from last year's team that went 15-18 overall and finished in eighth-place in the WAC with a 4-12 league mark.

Utah State is 10-1 all-time against Louisiana Tech, which includes a 4-1 road record. USU won the first meeting between the two teams this year in Logan in three sets, and LTU won the last meeting between the two teams in Ruston in five sets last year.

Utah State is 58-82 (.414) in road matches during the last 10 years, which includes a 39-59 (.398) record in conference matches. This year, USU is 7-3 on the road with wins at Utah (3-1), Arizona State (3-0), Montana (3-1), Brigham Young (3-2), Idaho (3-1), San Jose State (3-0) and Fresno State (3-2), and losses at then No. 5 Hawai'i (3-0), Boise State (3-2) and Nevada (3-1).

 

 

Utah State is 50-44 (.532) in WAC play which includes an 18-28 (.391) record on the road.
