LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head women's basketball coach Wesley Brooks announced the signing of Acacia Hayes on ​Monday.

"Acacia comes from a basketball family and she brings to our team a lot of on-court experience having spent time at Western Kentucky and Arizona State," Brooks said. "Acacia has a knack for getting to the rim and finishing in transition and has the ability to make the open 3. Her on ball defense will set the tone for our team."
 
Hayes, originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, arrives in Logan after spending the 2025-26 season at Arizona State where she sat out the season due to injury. Prior to her time with the Sun Devils, Hayes was a three-year standout at Western Kentucky, earning a pair of Conference USA Player of the Week nods during her time with the Hilltoppers. As a freshman in 2022-23, Hayes led WKU in scoring with 11.2 points per game while shooting 49.0 percent overall and 35.4 percent from 3-point range, earning a spot on the CUSA All-Freshman Team and leading the Hilltoppers to a berth in the WNIT. Hayes also earned a spot on the CUSA All-Tournament Team that season after leading WKU to the CUSA title game and averaging 13.0 points, 2.7 assists 1.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game during the conference tournament.

Hayes was named to the preseason all-CUSA team the following year and again led the Hilltoppers in scoring as a sophomore in 2023-24, averaging 14.0 points per game alongside 1.8 assists and 1.8 rebounds per contest. In her final season at Western Kentucky, Hayes averaged 11.2 points plus 2.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 42.9 percent from the floor. For her career, Hayes has averaged 12.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game and has shot 44.7 percent from the field, 31.7 percent from 3-point range and 77.9 percent from the free throw line.

Hayes played her high school career at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She was twice named to the all-district tournament team for the Warriors and earned all-region tournament team honors. She was named to the All-State Second Team as a freshman. As a Junior, Hayes was a first-team all-area performer and was named the district MVP and a finalist for the Miss Basketball award.
